Semtech OPC Technology

The Semtech OPC System provides the operator with continuous online information on the status of his process. Basically the system consists of an optical telescope, which focuses the light emitted by the offgas of a high-temperature process into an optical fibre. The latter guides the light to the OPC Server, where it is analyzed in a spectrometer. The dispersed light is evaluated in terms of Optical Process Parameters. The information is via smelter LAN or DCS/PI displayed to the operator in real time in the form of process trend curves.

One OPC Server has the capacity to handle up to six furnaces in parallel. This in combination with a very low maintenance need makes up for both low investment and low maintenance costs.
