Using the online information on the actual status of his process, provided by the OPC system, the furnace operator will have real-time information on, for instance

v     The condition of the slag, in principle the viscosity of the slag, and thereby

        a means for Dynamic Flux Control;

v     The proper Timing of Additions with regard to the conditions of slag and melt;

v     The oxidation stage of his process and thereby a means for

        Optimized Endpoint Control with regard to the specific preferences of the

        plant (e.g., optimized with regard to iron and impurity refinery, metal losses

        to slag, degree of oxidation).
